It’s also a strong fit for trade customers who need safe, consistent repairs with clear communication.
Professional Buckled Alloy Wheel Repair Process
A buckled wheel (also called a bent wheel) happens when impact from potholes or kerbs causes the rim to deform. Professional repair restores the wheel’s shape using controlled hydraulic straightening, not hammering.
Below is the full workshop process used by specialist wheel refurbishment centres.
Technician checks:
Heating area is cleaned to avoid contamination.
The damaged area is heated using:
Why heat it? Aluminium is brittle when cold. Controlled heat:
Temperature is carefully monitored (usually 150–200°C). Overheating
weakens alloy.
The wheel is mounted on a wheel straightening machine.
This is done slowly — rushing causes cracks.
The Goal: Restore factory roundness within safe tolerance.
If minor cracks are found:
Not all cracks are repairable (spoke cracks are higher risk).
Wheel is re-tested for:
Professional shops provide a tolerance report.
If cosmetic damage occurred:
Safety always overrides cost.
Alloy wheel straightening involves applying hydraulic pressure and heat to reshape a wheel that has already been structurally damaged. While every care is taken during the repair process, alloy wheels that are buckled may contain hidden stress fractures or weakened metal.
During straightening, cracks may become visible or may occur due to the existing damage and metal fatigue. If this happens, additional repairs such as welding may be required at an additional cost. In some cases, the wheel may be deemed unsafe or beyond repair.
By authorising this repair, you acknowledge that the wheel was previously damaged and accept that DCA Wheel Refurbishment Ltd cannot be held liable for cracks, structural failure, air leaks, or any further issues arising from the original damage or the straightening process.

We provide the advantage of convenience, as you won’t need to leave your vehicle at a workshop for an extended period. It’s a time-saving option for individuals with busy schedules.

Common signs include steering vibration at speed, a wobble you can see when the wheel spins, or a problem that starts after hitting a pothole or kerb.
No. Some wheels are too distorted or have damage in areas that make repair unsafe. We’ll inspect and advise honestly.
We use controlled heat and gradual correction to reduce risk. But the wheel is already damaged, which is why inspection and suitability checks matter.
Sometimes cracks only show once the wheel is being corrected. If a crack is repairable, we’ll explain the options and any extra cost. If it’s not safe, we’ll tell you.
We can, if needed. Powder coating or diamond cutting may follow depending on the wheel type and finish required.
